Terms of Use

Last updated: September 28, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Dally ("Dally," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Dally app and this website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Before you read further

Dally helps you find and join real, in-person events with other students, including people you haven't met before. You are solely responsible for your own safety and conduct at any event or meetup you attend through Dally. See Section 8 for details — please actually read it.

1. Eligibility & pilot access

To use Dally you must:

One account per person. Accounts are personal to you and may not be transferred, sold, or shared.

2. Your account

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away at support.joindally@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

3. The Service

Dally lets verified students post events, swipe on events they're interested in, and get placed into a temporary group chat with the other students who joined once an event reaches its host's minimum headcount. You can add friends through invite links and receive notifications about activity relevant to you. We may add, change, or remove features at any time, including during and after our pilot.

4. Acceptable use

When using Dally, you agree not to:

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section — see Section 9.

5. Your content & our license to it

You keep ownership of the content you post to Dally — event listings, host notes, your profile info and photo, and chat messages ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant Dally a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display it solely to operate and provide the Service (for example, showing your event to other students, or displaying a chat message to fellow chat members). This license ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we're permitted to retain under our Privacy Policy (e.g., reported content kept for moderation).

You're solely responsible for your User Content and confirm you have the rights to post it. Don't post content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or other rights; contact us at support.joindally@gmail.com if you believe something on Dally infringes yours.

6. Reporting, blocking & moderation

Dally gives you tools to block a user and to report an event, a chat message, or a user for review. We may investigate reports, remove content, and warn, suspend, or terminate accounts based on what we find, at our discretion. We're not obligated to monitor all content on the Service, but we may review content — including reported chat messages — as part of keeping the community safe.

7. Group chats

Group chats are temporary: a chat forms automatically once enough students join an event, stays open to its members until 24 hours after the event ends (or up to 14 days after formation if the event has no end time), and is text-only. Once closed, members lose access immediately, and the chat's content is permanently deleted on the schedule described in our Privacy Policy. Leaving or being removed from a group frees your spot but doesn't end the chat for other members.

8. In-person meetups & safety

Dally is a tool for finding and organizing events — it does not vet, supervise, or guarantee the safety of any event, host, or attendee. We do not run background checks on users. Any decision to attend an event, host an event, or meet another student through Dally is made entirely at your own risk.

9. Suspension & termination

You may stop using Dally and permanently delete your account at any time from Settings — this cancels events you're hosting, removes you from chats and friend lists, and deletes your profile and sign-in credentials. It cannot be undone.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, at our discretion and with or without notice, if we believe you've violated these Terms, our community guidelines, or applicable law, or if we discontinue the Service or your eligibility (e.g., you're no longer a UMD student).

10. Beta / pilot disclaimer

Dally is currently offered as a limited pilot to an invited group of UMD students. Features, availability, and access may change, be limited, or be discontinued at any time without notice while we're in this phase, and the Service is provided without guarantees of continued availability.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. WE DON'T WARRANT THE ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF ANY CONTENT POSTED BY USERS OR THE CONDUCT OF ANY USER, ON OR OFF THE SERVICE.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DALLY AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, GOODWILL, OR PROFITS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY EVENT OR MEETUP FOUND THROUGH IT — EVEN IF WE'VE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. TO THE EXTENT LIABILITY CAN'T BE DISCLAIMED, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO $100.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Dally and its operators harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your conduct at any event or meetup found through Dally.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Maryland, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

15. App Store terms (Apple users)

If you downloaded the Dally app from Apple's App Store, the following additional terms apply and take precedence over any conflicting term above:

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Dally evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
